I have a 13.3" Macbook Pro (late 2009) running 10.6.5 with 5GB RAM and a 160GB HDD. I also have a 32GB USB flash drive.
I would like to partition the flash drive as follows:
- partition 1: 7GB (SL install disc)
- partition 2: 4GB (Win7Ult install disc)
- partition 3: 1GB (Ubuntu install disc)
- partition 4: 20GB (exFAT/storage)
I've tried using Disc Utility to partition the drive using the GUID option and the MBR option. I've tried simply copying the contents of the Win7Ult and Ubuntu discs into the partitions (having formatted both as FAT32 and exFAT). I've tried using dd to restore the disc images to the partitions.
So far nothing has worked. When I restart the Mac and hold down the option key, only the Mac's HDD comes up.
Am I missing something? Am I doing it wrong? Is it just not possible with a flash drive? Should I try with a 20GB external HDD (USB/FW400) that I have? Should I just give up?
TIA…
